Ryan is upset about Lindsay moving to Chicago and decides to catch a bus there to see her. Seth stops him from going to Chicago and convinces him to go to the mall with him, Summer and Marissa to pick up clothes for a charity drive.
Sandy notices that Kirsten is not wearing her wedding ring and she tells him that she's misplaced it.
Later, while Sandy takes apart the pipes in the kitchen looking for Kirsten's ring, Caleb calls to see him and tells him that he's going to miss Lindsay.
At the mall, Seth, Ryan, Summer and Marissa pick up clothes for the charity drive but end up getting locked in the storage room.
As Seth and Ryan crawl through the ducts, trying to find a way out of the storage room, Ryan overhears Marissa talking to Summer about how she still misses him.
Kirsten and Julie meet up with Carter, Newport Living's new editor for dinner. However, an ex boyfriend of Julie's (Lance) shows up and blackmails Julie, telling her that she has to pay him to stop him from realeasing to the public a porn video that she made years before.
Julie leaves and Kirsten and Carter have dinner together.
Back at the mall, after finally getting out of the storage room, Seth, Ryan, Summer and Marissa decide to stay the night at the mall.
Marissa phones Alex and lies to her, saying that she will be spending the night at her mother's house.
Seth, Ryan, Summer and Marissa then have a game of hockey at the mall and then go in search of food to eat while they camp out there.
Seth notices a postcard from Zach in Summer's bag and tries to read it, but Summer catches him and they get into an argument. However, they have to cut their argument short when the mall security guards come looking for them.
The four escape and Summer later lets Seth see the postcard from Zach.
Alex goes to see Marissa at Julie's, but obviously Marissa isn't there and Alex realises that Marissa has lied to her.
Julie tells Alex that Marissa has only ever loved Ryan.
Meanwhile, determined to get a ring for Kirsten, Sandy tries to win a plastic ring for her from the arcade - just like the one he proposed to her with.
He later presents her with the ring he won and it is revealed that Kirsten had not lost her ring at all. She had just taken it off and hidden it.Episode Allusions

(references the coming summer blockbuster Fantastic 4)Final Scene: In the final scene we are presented with a shot of Marissa and Ryan sitting in the diner. You might have noticed that this looks exactly like the famous painting by artist Edward Hopper called Night Hawks (1942). This was no mistake, as it even looks like the 4th character in the diner (sitting on the left) might have been computer generated. This painting also appeared in Ferris Beuller's Day Off.

Goof: When they realized they're locked in the store room and Summer says the thing about The Valley and "That's how April got pregnant" then Seth says "Oh, it's okay" and Summer looks down, you can tell that Rachel's trying not to laugh, even though it's apparent that Summer's not supposed to find this funny.
Goof: Ryan was at the bus station on Saturday morning, planning on taking a bus to Chicago to surprise Lindsay for the weekend. Which weekend? The next weekend? It is a long way from the LA area to Chicago. It has got to be at least 2 days on the bus. Ryan wouldn't get there this weekend.
Goof: When Kirsten and Carter are at the restaurant, Carter is pouring a glass of wine and his glass is almost full. But when the camera angle changes, it's only about halfway full.
Goof: It is rediculous that Seth would be able to open the storeroom door from the outside. The entire purpose of locking it is to keep people out so they won't steal things, so there is no way it was unlocked from the outside when it was locked from the inside.
Goof: Between the 24 and 25 minute mark, Julie has the brown bag in her left hand and at another camera angle, it is in her right. At yet another camera angle after that, it's back in her left hand.
Goof: How did they set up the manikins in the tent so quickly? There wouldn't have been manicans close to the camping section, and Seth made it clear they had to leave right away. It just didn't seem like there would be enough time to do all of that.
Goof: Security walks around malls for hours after the mall is closed, perhaps even all night. The gang should have gotten caught when they started to play Hockey. Surely that would have created enough noise for security to come running towards the store, or at least see on their camera monitors.
Goof: If anyone has ever seen or been inside an air duct, it's very very dusty. Yet these mall air ducts are spotless and clean.
Ryan: Guess you could say we're kind of like strangers.
Marissa: Yeah? So, who are you?
Ryan: Whoever you want me to be.Julie: Alex...and I’m not saying this to be mean, because you actually seem like a nice enough girl and...I like your pants.
Julie: To Alex Marissa's only been in love once...and he looked a whole lot different in a wife beater.
Summer: Besides, Marissa is happy now.
Seth: And by happy you mean gay.Julie: Marissa and happy parted ways about her 16th birthday.
Seth: trying to give Ryan the hairpin There you go, buddy. Go to town.
Ryan: Now why would you assume I know how to pick a lock?Lance: Actually, I have something for you.
Julie: Yeah? Last time you gave me something, I drank cranberry juice for a week.
